General questions

Which is the right course for me?

It depends what you’re interested in and your current skill level. Why not sign up for our 30 Day access which gives you access to all courses. Alternatively, getting access to every course for 12 Months is our most popular option. Whether you’re new to using the software or a seasoned professional, we will find the right course for you to get you started.

What skills do I need to start?

Our courses start at a Foundation level – so you don’t need any prior skill. If you are more advanced, simply skip the lessons you know.

Course content questions

How long do I get to access the course for?

If you buy a course, you get access to it for 3 years. 30 Day access gives you access to all courses for 30 days. If you join us for a year via our 12 Month plan, you get full access to all courses for a year.

What format is the course delivered in?

All our services are delivered online on our website. The courses are accessed from your account which is made available to you on purchase of a service. The Course materials are delivered in two primary forms:

1. Online videos to show you how to use functionality for that relevant chapter

2. Downloadable exercises to practice what you have learnt

How much time does it take to complete the courses?

This depends on the course you choose. As a guide, every 2 hours of video lesson would normally be covered in about half a day of classroom training.

How will I know if I’m making progress?

Once you’re using an application whilst doing the course, you’ll find yourself using shortcuts, utilising more of the functionality, and you’ll be generally a better software user fairly quickly. When you’re completing our online courses, each course comes with a ‘Progress chart’ that shows you what % of the course you’ve completed, so you can track your learning every time you log in.

Can I print off the course notes to study offline?

All of our learning is delivered via video, and to enhance the learning process we encourage you to take notes. If you want to pause, rewind or replay a video, that’s simple to do, so you will never miss an important point.

How often do you update the content?

We update all of our courses whenever a feature is updated. We also have a roadmap of new courses that we will be releasing. This can be viewed on our Courses page.

Technical questions

What software do the courses require?

The course text documents and videos for all courses can be followed using free software that most computers will have had installed during the course of everyday internet usage. Although course text documents and videos can be read and viewed using free software, the practice material given will require the use of the particular software package.  So without it you can still learn but you will be unable to practice.

Can I access the course from more than one computer?

Yes you can. If you have a PC and laptop at home, a desktop at work, a tablet and a Smartphone, you can access your courses from all of them.

Certification questions

Who accredits your examinations?

We prepare you for a number of different forms of accreditation.

  • Once you have completed a course we will provide you with a Certificate of Completion. This indicates that you have completed the course and the assessment attached with the course.
  • We prepare you to sit the Microsoft Office Specialist accredited Core and Expert exams. These exams must be sat in a Microsoft Accredited Test Centre.
  • We prepare you for the IACT Master certification. This is highest level of accreditation available. This is a credit based certification which requires completion of a minimum number of courses and a project submission.

At what point can I sit the Microsoft examinations?

Once you have completed the courses and any associated recommended coursework and exercises you should be ready to sit the examinations. To complete the Microsoft Specialist examination at Core level you should complete Excel or Word Levels 1-2 and be very comfortable with all of its content. You should feel confident that you are ready to sit the respective exams or tests and able to perform any of the required syllabus questions quickly and without hesitation.

How quickly do I get my accreditation?

  • Certificates of completion are issued once you have completed the associated course and any associated online tests. These can be downloaded immediately.
  • Microsoft examinations must be booked in advance – from here or you local test centre.

What kind of certificate do I receive upon completion?

After you have completed a course and passed the associated examinations and project work (if required), you receive a Certificate. This certificate is delivered in PDF format for you to print. It’s Internationally recognised and demonstrates to future employers that you have a high proficiency in your chosen application. An example is below:

How do you know it’s me that has taken an online exam?

In the same way that Universities ask their Online students to agree to an Honour Code, we do the same. When you sign up to take the exam, you are signing up to our Honour Code, stating that it is you that has competed the exam.

How many times can I take the exam?

If you don’t pass the first exam, you can then sit the exam for a second again free of charge.

Payment questions

How does the free trial work?

If you select our 30 Day access option, we give you FREE access to all courses for 7 days. After that, unless you notify us using the Cancellation form, you will commence with your first monthly payment on day 8. This gives you access to ALL courses for 30 days.

What happens after I select the Free Trial button?

You will be taken to our payment page. Here you need to enter your credit card details, name and address. We do not take any payment at this stage. This process just sets up the payment for 7 days time, if you don’t contact us to using the Cancellation form.

Why do you need me credit card details for a free trial?

We take your credit card details at this stage for two reasons. Firstly, to make sure that the sign up process after the 7 days is seamless so you can continue your learning. Secondly, to ensure that an individual can only sign up for one 7 day trial.

Is payment on your site secure?

Yes. Payments are 100% secured with SSL. Secure payments are powered by Stripe, used by millions of businesses around the globe.

How soon can I start learning after I’ve entered my details?

Straight away. Simply click the LOGIN button at the top right of the iactonline website, enter your email and the password you chose. You can start learning immediately.

How does the money back guarantee work?

If you buy a course, or an Annual Membership, we offer a 7 day money back guarantee. You get full access to your chosen course / courses straight away, but, if within 7 days you find that for whatever reason it’s not for you, send us a message using the Cancellation form. form and we will process a full refund – no questions asked.

Am I tied to a contract?

No. Our courses and Annual Memberships are one-off payments with no further payments. If you select our 30 Day access, you can cancel your subscription whenever you want using our Cancellation form.

Can I really cancel at any time?

If you have chosen our 30 Day access plan, you can cancel at any time by completing the Cancellation form. We will cancel your account immediately.

Can I get a discount for buying multiple memberships?

We offer great plans for businesses or if you want to purchase multiple licences as a group. Please see more information here.

Can I upgrade from a monthly membership to an annual membership?

Yes. You can upgrade at any time. If you’re on our 30 Day access plan or our free trial and want to upgrade to our 12 Month membership, please contact us and we will happily process the payment for 12 month access.

Can I share my log-in details and password with anyone else?

We understand you’ll want to tell your friends about the courses, so from time to time we run a “Refer a Friend” scheme which we will email you about each time it runs. Sharing your login details is not permitted as part of our Terms and Conditions.
